Program Notes
Flute, F-Horn and Concert Band
The idea of this composition was to give a Christmas present to two of my children, Roeland and Roselien, who play the horn and flute respectively. The work therefore begins with the Christmas bells, followed by a “happy” theme in which the flute and horn take turns in leading and thus end up from one adventure to the next.
For a moment, the young brother (timpani) and older sister (bass clarinet) join in and they read a Christmas story together.
How quickly time flies when you are having fun. Time to tidy up. The toys fly into the bins, but here and there there is still something that attracts attention. Roeland and Roselien try to stall some time, until suddenly a stern voice says: “It is done”
