First Spring Light - Rendering 49 - Arioso for Saxophone Quartet
Originally, this piece comes from a soundscape I made when I was half awakened by the "first spring light" streaming through the curtains. Later I made several versions, this one is for saxophone quartet.
For me, the work represents a warm, intense, mysterious and promising light, a very simple, high-rising melody found somewhere in a dream.
This extremely slow movement could add a nice contrast to a program with some more virtuoso quartet pieces.
It is composed in a quasi-tonal style, more like a fantasy tonality.
