In 1901, a new crime novel by Arthur Conan Doyle was published in the English 'Strand Magazine'. It would become Doyle's
best-known and most popular crime novel with Sherlock Holmes in the leading role.
Central to the book is the local legend of a huge ghost dog said to haunt the area around Baskerville Hall and the nearby
Grimpen Mire. The book's eerie and mysterious settings almost everywhere in the story outweigh the deductive ingenuity of
Sherlock Holmes himself, even though he ultimately solves the mystery.
In this composition of the same name, the most important pillars and events of the story are presented in chronological order.
It begins with the evening walk and death of Charles Baskerville and ends with the death of the enormous ghost dog at night
on the heath.
Conan Doyle's crime novel can be read online or downloaded for free on www.gutenberg.org and there are numerous film
versions that can be viewed via media such as YouTube. It is recommended to read the book or watch one of these movie
versions.
