Folkpiece for guitar solo
"Meyerke" is a Yiddish folk song. The melody of the song is given in the first eleven bars of this Meyerke-fantasy. The song has the form of a dialogue between a father and a son, in which the son is led to confess his littleness as a human being in the face of God. The piece conveys the love between father and son despite strong feelings of rebellion in the process of growing up. The character of the piece is scherzando. The piece is dedicated to my father, the late Peter Berman, to whom I owe my first experiences with Yiddish music.
