Quintet for Brass or other instruments
The Fantasia à gusto italiano in F major (KrebsWV 422) is an organ work by Bachs pupil Johann Ludwig Krebs (1713–1780). It is known for its solo tenor line, which is often played with a special register such as the Vox humana. This solo part is divided between the third and fourth voice, giving them rewarding tasks. The Fantasia is a characteristic work of the late Baroque period, demonstrating the Italian influence on German organ music of the time. In order to do justice to the work, one should familiarise oneself with the performance practices of the period. This is particularly important for articulation and the execution of ornamentation. The accompanying recording is synthetic and should not be regarded as an aid to interpretation.
