For small wind orchestra setup, expandable to full instrumentation.
Suona la Campana means ‘Sounds from De Stolp’. De Stolp (The Bell Jar/Dome) is the name of the community centre where the "Nieuw Talent Orkest" (New Talent Orchestra) of the wind band "De Oude Post" in 's-Hertogenbosch holds its rehearsals. I therefore composed this work for this specific orchestra.
Suona la Campana is playable for musicians who have approximately one year of playing experience. Despite this, the work sounds mature in a modern-classical style.
The minimum required instrumentation is:
- 1x Flute
- 2x Bb Clarinets
- 2x Alto Saxophones
- 1x Tenor Saxophone
- 2x Trumpets
- 1x Trombone
- 1x Percussionist (drum set)
- 1x Bassoon/Baritone Saxophone/Euphonium/Bass Tuba (one of these instruments is sufficient)
The instrumentation can, however, be expanded to a fully occupied wind orchestra.
