French Horn / Tenor Horn and Piano
In the early spring of 1984, I composed this solo piece for horn and piano as a birthday present for my sister-in-law, Herma Slot. The premiere took place on April 3, 1984, her birthday, and was performed by hornist Roel Koster, with myself at the piano.
The title of the piece was carefully chosen. Some time earlier, Herma had promised to knit me a warm scarf, but so far, it hadn't happened. With the subtle allusion in the title, I hoped to remind her of this promise—perhaps successfully.
