Composition for brassband for the Flemish Open Brassband Championships
This Elegy was originally written for a slightly smaller instrumentation (4 trumpets, 4 French horns, 4 trombones, 1 euphonium and 1 bass tube). But because it was picked up to be used as the compulsory work for the Flemish Open Brass Band Championship 2024, a new version was written with the addition of percussion and timpani. The euphonium is given a central role and opens the work with a lyrical, sad lament that is picked up by the first and second baritone and then further developed throughout the composition.
