De tous biens playne is composed for a 5 octaves marimba.
Dedicated and composed for Nozomi Abe (Tokyo-Japan) with the aid of the Flemish Government.
This piece is based on small fragments of secular music by Jacob Obrecht (Ghent 1457-1505).
First performance: april 24th 2009 by Nozomi Abe in the Tokyp Opera City Recital Hall.
During the Festival of Flanders Kempen 2018, the piece was part of the program:
VOORPROGRAMMA Frank Nuyts componeerde dit virtuoze stuk voor marimba solo in 2008. Jonathan Bonny neemt de uitdaging aan en studeert maandenlang om het werk tijdens Musica Divina te kunnen vertolken. Tien jaar na het ontstaan volgt de volledige première van dit bijzondere werk dat knipoogt naar zowel Jacob Obrecht als Sol LeWitt. Een huzarenstuk!
