A musical portrait of the village of Poortugaal for wind band
Commissioned by music association La Bona Futura, Poortugaal. In honor of their 125th anniversary.
The work outlines three important themes/sights from Poortugaal. The chant, which is performed by the euphonium at the beginning, sounds in a wide and open area. When there was nothing yet. Then you hear the battle against the water that Poortugaal has known.
Part two is about the beautiful slos Vlackesteijn, the gates are opened and the damsels dance gracefully to the music. The knights also enter.
The last part is based on the relationship with Portugal and has two atmospheres. First a song is played, inspired by the fado style. Finally, there is an energetic Portuguese march.
A versatile work with many styles and sounds.
