Brass Band
Kick-Start was composed for Altena Brass. The premiere by Altena Brass conducted by Anno Appelo was on March 31th 2018 in 't Uivernest in Hank.
This spectaculair prelude for brass band is very well suited te open concerts. After a fast and technical introduction the first melodic theme is introduced, followed by more technical highlights. From the 17th century preludes were not only used as a musical introduction, but also as an introductory improvisation ment to loosen the fingers. Kick- Start has all these elements of a prelude.
Kick-Start werd gecomponeerd voor Altena Brass. De première door Altena Brass o.l.v. Anno Appelo vond plaats op 31 maart 2018 in ’t Uivernest in Hank.
Deze spectaculaire prelude voor brassband is zeer geschikt om concerten mee te openen. Na een snelle technische inleiding volgt een melodieus thema, waarna er nog meer technische hoogstandjes volgens. Aan het slot komt het hoofdthema terug in een grote finale. Preludes werden al vanaf de 17e eeuw gebruikt als muzikaal voorspel, maar ze werden ook wel gebruikt als inleidende improvisatie, bedoeld om de vingers van de spelers los te maken. Kick-Start heeft al deze elementen van een prelude in zich.
