“Sabbatum Sanctum ” is the second movement of a composition about the apostle, Maria Magdalena.
On the day before Christ’s resurrection, Maria Magdalena is wondering why they have crucified her Lord. Then soon after, the chorus and her ask The Lord to protect and preserve them. The music accompanied only by strings, has chromatic elements that help the story unfold as a lamentation.
