Joaquin Turina (1882 - 1949) was a leading Spanish pianist, conductor and composer, known not only for his piano pieces but also for his particularly colourful orchestral works evoking different scenes in Spain. He studied in Paris, where he became acquainted with impressionist composers, and later became professor of composition at the Royal Conservatory of Madrid, which now bears his name.
This Orchestration for Symphony Orchestra is made from the fourth piano piece of the second cycle "Mujeres españolas".
