The first performance by Jan Michiels on the 9th of May 2014 in Music Center De Bijloke, Ghent.
The 16th sonata for piano solo is commissioned by Music Center De Bijloke Ghent and composed for the pianist Jan Michiels. This is the second of 4 sonatas dedicated specifically to the site 'De Bijloke'.
Standing in the middle of the central court (which I presumed was formerly a garden, or an orchard) I discovered that, coinciding with the cardinal points, one may obeserve 4 totally different views.
This sonata evokes what what I saw, and felt, looking westwards...
