While You Were Awakening, I Stepped Inside and Left the Door Open In 2010, I composed the piece "While You Were Sleeping, I Opened the Door and Walked Out Into a Warm Night", which was commissioned by the Polish Lorien Trio. After nine years, it was time to return from the night walk and finish the story... or not, the door was left open. This is the sister work of its predecessor, not only in its title, but also in terms of its instrumentation and its three-part format. The first part sways, spills and bubbles without a clear direction, sometimes frantic and restless, sometimes calmly swirling. The second part is more reflective, but the direction is still being sought. At the end of the movement, the trio plays with strong determination, like a conclusion from reflections. Finally, in the third part, the light brightens and a hopeful determined direction is found towards the open door.
