Nocturne

Nocturne was written in a time where I was struggling with some events and feelings that made composing difficult to neither impossible. Things that kept me up at night and caused my thoughts to drift off in all directions during the composition process, except the empty paper that was in front of me. This kept up for a couple of weeks, and I could be happy if only wrote a couple of notes a day.
This changed when I read a quote from a letter from Haydn, from a period where he had just experienced a tragedy. His conclusion was the only thing you could do in such a time was to 'just' pick up the pencil and continue writing. For me, this was the wake-up call. I realised that the way I could process the things that were happening and were keeping me away from writing by the thing I kept postponing: picking up the pencil and doing the thing I love most.

Nocturne has been my way of getting through a difficult period in my life.
