Anne-Maartje wrote her first composition when she was four years old and has never stopped since. She studied piano and composition and currently works as a composer, pianist, teacher, and organizer. In 2024 and 2025 Anne-Maartje has been the Composer of the Netherlands for two years.

Composer // Anne-Maartje has composed for various musicians and ensembles, such as pianist Ralph van Raat, the rebel collective Pynarello, the Ricciotti Ensemble, and many more. Her music has been performed at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Tivoli Vredenburg, the Dutch National Opera, the Wonderfeel festival, November Music, and Lowlands.

Pianist // Anne-Maartje specializes in performing contemporary repertoire. She regularly performs her own work and enjoys collaborating with other musicians.

Teacher // Anne-Maartje teaches composition and music theory and works as a mentor/study coach/research supervisor at the Utrecht Conservatory. She also collaborates with composer Remy Alexander to provide composition education to children ages 4 and up through the In de Knop Foundation.

Organizer // Anne-Maartje founded the In de Knop Foundation. This foundation is dedicated to providing composition education to children and young people throughout the country and supporting young artists in creating their own work.

In 2015, Anne-Maartje started a neighborhood orchestra in the Liendert neighborhood of Amersfoort, the neighborhood where she grew up. Everyone is welcome in this orchestra, regardless of age, skill level, or instrument. Anne-Maartje creates customized arrangements so that everyone can participate at their own level. Over the years, the Liendert Orchestra has grown into a robust cultural organization in

Anne-Maartje schreef haar eerste compositie toen ze vier jaar was en is er daarna nooit meer mee opgehouden. Ze studeerde piano en compositie en is momenteel werkzaam als componist, pianist, docent en organisator. In 2024 en 2025 was  Anne-Maartje voor 2 jaar de Componist der Nederlanden.

Componist // Anne-Maartje componeerde in opdracht van diverse musici en ensembles, zoals pianist Ralph van Raat, rebellencollectief Pynarello, het Ricciotti Ensemble en nog veel meer. Haar muziek klonk o.a. in  het Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Tivoli Vredenburg, de Nationale Opera, op festival Wonderfeel, November Music en op Lowlands.

Pianist // Anne-Maartje specialiseerde zich in het spelen van hedendaags repertoire. Ze staat regelmatig op het podium met haar eigen werk en werkt graag en veel samen met andere musici.

Docent // Anne-Maartje is als docent in compositie en muziektheorie en als mentor/studiecoach/onderzoeksbegeleider verbonden aan het Utrechts Conservatorium. Daarnaast verzorgt ze samen met componist Remy Alexander compositie-educatie aan kinderen vanaf 4 jaar via Stichting In de Knop.

Organisator // Anne-Maartje richtte Stichting In de Knop op. Deze stichting zet zich in om compositieonderwijs te bieden aan kinderen en jongeren door het hele land én om jonge makers te ondersteunen in het maken van eigen werk.

In 2015 startte Anne-Maartje een wijkorkest in de Amersfoortse wijk Liendert; de wijk waar ze opgroeide. Bij dit orkest is iedereen welkom; ongeacht leeftijd, niveau of instrument. Anne-Maartje verzorgt de arrangementen op maat zodat ieder op zijn of haar eigen niveau mee kan spelen. Het Lienderts Orkest is in de loop der jaren uitgegroeid tot een solide culturele vereniging in Liendert.
