Pau Jené Domènech is a Catalan composer whose work focuses primarily on solo piano music, a medium in which he has developed a distinctive voice marked by timbral sensitivity, expressive clarity, and a continuous exploration of intimate and atmospheric sound worlds.

Originally trained as a pianist, Pau blends influences from European contemporary music and the pianistic tradition of the 20th century, shaping a personal and recognizable style. Among his most notable works are the Stolpersteine Variations, a piano suite conceived as a historical memory project inspired by the Stolpersteine initiative of German artist Gunter Demnig, who created the widespread installation of commemorative cobblestones across Europe honoring the victims of World War II. Pau’s musical interpretation reflects on individual memory, absence, and silent testimony.

He is also the author of Prelude, a cycle of short pieces exploring condensed harmonic landscapes and subtle textures.

Although the piano lies at the center of his creative output, Pau has also composed —though to a lesser extent— duets for piano and other instruments, including violin, cello, flute, and saxophone, as well as pieces for small string formations and various folk and singer-songwriter songs, which reveal a more melodic and direct facet of his musical language.

Pau performs personally most of his works for solo piano, ensuring a deep coherence between composition and interpretation.
When his works involve other instruments, they are not performed by him, but conceived for specialized musicians.

He continues to expand his catalogue with new piano pieces and chamber music projects, always in a constant search for his own expressive language, guided by an honest artistic intention and meticulous attention to detail.
