A Top Secret pas de deux

Shortly after the premiere of my first symphony "Puuttuva lapsi" (in Turku in the fall of 1995). I started working on a new large-scale orchestral work. Work though seemed to be hampered by the aftermath of the long work of creation that had just ended to the extent that so it's best to do something very different as a break. As a starting point for my piece "A Top Secret Pas de deux", I prepared a 12-note line, in which I kept it tight, without losing sight of the tonal tensions. This became my first oddecaphonic work.
For assembly I chose two percussionists and a string quartet. A name that excites a playful mind refers to two percussionists, dancing and intermittent creeping atmosphere.
The sequel "Round Goes the Gossip", completed a year later, is based on the same tone row, but for different motives. The atmosphere is now more humorous. The secret of the dancing couple has leaked out and the three woodwind players who came along are making fun of it.
