A choral piece for soprano and tenor voices, organ and body percussion. Based on William Blake's beautiful text “The Divine image”.
William Blake was a Poet, painter, engraver, and visionary. Born in 1757 England, London. He is considered one of the leading poets in English poetry. At an early age, his unique mental powers would prove disquieting to his surrounding. On one occasion he was startled to “see a tree filled with angels, bright angelic wings bespangling every bough like stars.” At the age of 14, his parents decided that William would be apprenticed to a master engraver. William, resisted that arrangement and told his father: “I do not like the man’s face: it looks as if he will live to be hanged!” This prophecy came true 12 years later when William Ryland was hanged for forgery. His work has recently grown in popularity. This choir piece is based on his beautiful text “The Divine image”.
