Wind quintet based on selected paintgs/sculptures of Rik Wouters
The Rik Wouters Suite is written for the classic wind quintet combination (flute, oboe, clarinet, horn and bassoon). It consists of 5 movements, based on 5 works by Rik Wouters (three paintings and two sculptures). Like the paintings by Wouters, the musical language is colorful and voluptuous. In this part of the suite Stefaan Vanheertum uses a bronze statue from 1911. It is the incredibly beautiful, mysterious and endearing MIJMERING (reverie).
