Jazz Suite for Baritone Saxophone solo
One day cellist Saskia Boon invited me to compose a jazzy suite for cello solo, a bit like the Bach suites, but from a completely different angle.
In my hometown, the improvised music scene always took a fresh approach to the standard jazz themes. So I accepted the offer.
And I made free interpretations of a few jazz songs,
not using their melodies, but creating new and different lines over the underlying chord progressions.
After completing this Suite, I thought it would also be a nice idea to make a version for baritone saxophone.
