Biografie

English composer, Paul Henley is originally from Worcester and is now based in Shropshire. He commenced studies at Birmingham School of Music (later to become the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire) in September 1980, training first as a pianist and trumpeter and then switching to singing and composition. Formerly an opera singer and singing teacher, in 2019, at the age of sixty, he made the decision to devote himself to working solely as a composer. Since then, Paul has written for a wide variety of vocal and instrumental mediums. Recordings of his music have been released on the Ulysses Arts and Prima Facie labels and he is a verified Spotify artist. His music has also featured on two Apple Music playlists – ‘New in Classical’ and ‘Pure Piano’.

His works have been performed both nationally and in Europe and reviewed to international acclaim. His music has also been broadcast on BBC Radio. Recent premieres include his Sonata for Flute and Piano, ‘Notes and Sorrows’ for High Voice and Piano, Voice for Solo Cello and String Orchestra, Lyric Movement for String Quartet and Five Epigrams for Piano.

Paul Henley’s works are published by Bridges Music and he is represented by Ulysses Arts of London.
