This is a three movement sonata for Cello and Piano
This work was written in 2003. It is perhaps unusual in that it has only one fast movement, the two outer ones both being slow. The cello mostly has singing, legato phrases, though the second movement is very lively and rhythmic. The opening motif in the cello often recurs as a sort of motif in various forms. This occurs at the conclusion of the work where after much intensity, there is more of a sense of calm and resolution.
